Court lifts embargo against concrete plant on the Costa do Sol

Tribunal levanta embargo contra Central de Betão na Costa do Sol

In the recent past, the Chinese company Africa Great Wall Concrete Manufactured had been banned from continuing with construction work on a concrete plant in a residential area in the Costa do Sol district of Maputo city.

Meanwhile, says the portal The Country that the decision was annulled, all because it had been taken by the Maputo City Judicial Court, which does not have the power to decide on the embargo.

Thus, the judges of the Maputo City High Court of Appeal decided to uphold the appeal filed by the Chinese company. This means that the works, seen by residents as causing public health and environmental degradation, will be resumed. The judges recognize, however, the negative impact of having the work underway.

In fact, the plaintiffs have promised to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court. In the meantime, proceedings are underway in the Administrative Court.
