Administrative Court concludes preliminary report on 2023 General State Account

Tribunal Administrativo conclui relatório preliminar da Conta Geral do Estado de 2023

The Administrative Court (TA) has already finished examining and issuing the preliminary report on the 2023 General State Account (CGE), which should be submitted to the government within a few days for the purposes of the contradictory procedure.

The information was provided by the TA's spokesman, Cláudio Pene, who explained that the assessment of the account by the plenary of the Administrative Court was preceded by in-depth technical work, including the request for additional information from state bodies and institutions in order to deepen the assessment of the account, as well as audits.

Quoted by NewsHe said that the failure to make funds available in time to carry out audits had forced the TA to reformulate the activity plan and reduce the sample of audited entities, so that not all the planned audits had been carried out.

"The preliminary report will be sent to the government, with a view to obtaining answers to the questions and findings raised, followed by its issue and respective opinion to the Assembly of the Republic," said the source, recalling that the preparation of the General State Accounts report arises from the need to fulfill the constitutional mandate of the Administrative Court, established in Article 229(2)(a) of the Constitution of the Republic.

It should be noted that the last report for the 2022 financial year had found an increase of more than 30.4 billion meticais in the deviation of state spending from what was foreseen in the Budget Law.
