"We have to look at our debt strategies," warns Luísa Diogo

“Temos que olhar para nossas estratégias de endividamento”, adverte Luísa Diogo

The resumption of funding for the State Budget is seen by economists as an opportunity for Mozambique to revive its economy, but the former Prime Minister, Luísa Diogo, argues that the country should move towards stronger tightening measures and transparency.

To VOA, Luísa Diogo says that "we have to look at our debt strategies. We have a heavy trade debt, that's something Mozambique should start to forget - we are not able to pay the trade debt.

"But when we go to the World Bank for financing with the number of years it takes, the low interest rate, it's a donation, so Mozambique's debt strategy has to be adjusted," says Diogo.
