The Portuguese airline, TAP, announced on Friday its operation for the summer of 2024, with 11 more weekly flights to Brazil and additions to Mozambique, North America and Italy.
The airline said in a statement quoted by Lusa that it will increase "the total number of departures from Portugal to 91 per week", stressing that "this development is planned without the need to hire new aircraft and is possible after an initial review of the network and readjustments to some current frequencies", said the airline led by Luís Rodrigues.
In Brazil, Recife will have three more weekly flights from Lisbon, up from seven to ten, Rio de Janeiro will grow from ten to twelve and São Paulo, Belém, Brasília, Natal, Maceió, Porto Alegre and Salvador will also have one more weekly flight to and from Portugal.
The Portuguese airline will also increase its operations in Maputo, Mozambique's capital, to four flights a week, instead of the current three.
In North America, TAP will increase its weekly flights to Toronto, Canada, to 13, while San Francisco, California (USA), will also have six weekly flights at the peak of summer, up from five weekly flights in 2023.
Finally, in Europe, only Italy will see an increase in frequencies, with Rome gaining one more daily flight, bringing the number of operations to and from the Italian capital to five a day, bringing the total to 35 weekly frequencies.
Florence will also be increased from eight to ten weekly frequencies.
