SERNIC on the hunt for Chinese businessman accused of manufacturing construction material with stolen CFM material

The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) in the city of Beira is looking for a Chinese businessman accused of using material stolen from the Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique company to produce construction rods.

According to the portal The CountryThe accused is a repeat offender and this is the third time he has been caught in possession of stolen railway equipment in less than a year.

"We don't know if he had information before our team came and, so far, he hasn't been here," said SERNIC's spokesman in Sofala, Alfeu Sitoe.

Given the recidivism of the alleged Chinese investor, the case will be given special treatment in order to hold him accountable, according to the corporation.

"He must clarify how he gets this material and who he gets it from. He must be held accountable and he can't avoid that," he said.

SERNIC suspects that the owner of the factory has collaborators linked to the CFM company who supply him with material, given the large quantity found at the place that was searched.
