Private sector begins advocacy on nutrition issues

Sector privado passa a fazer advocacia em assuntos de nutrição

The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) is now advocating on nutrition issues, in coordination with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) with the signing in Maputo of a memorandum of understanding valued at around 250 thousand dollars.

Running until 2026, the memorandum essentially aims to strengthen CTA's institutional capacity in order to develop its interventions in the food and nutrition industry.

GAIN will also support the activities of CTA's Agribusiness, Food Industry and Nutrition Department in providing technical assistance to its members and the private sector in general, with the aim of technically improving the quality and safety of the food that is sold on the market.

According to AIM, the document was signed by the president of the CTA, Agostinho Vuma, and the director of GAIN in Mozambique, Gaspar Cuambe.
