The Mozambique LNG Project, operated by TotalEnergies, in collaboration with the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) and the French business association EVOLEN, signed a memorandum of understanding for the exchange of information and experiences between companies from both countries..
The event took place on Monday in Paris, France, during the second edition of the Mozambique - France Business Partnership Program, in which 40 companies took part.
"The memorandum between CTA and EVOLEN, which aims to foster, facilitate and promote cooperation between Mozambican and French economic agents and institutions, covers the sharing of scientific, technical and economic information, the establishment of partnerships in the industrial, technological and commercial spheres, as well as encouraging the development of business opportunities and supply chains," reads a statement from oil multinational TotalEnergies.
The document explains that the seminar was also an opportunity for bilateral and multilateral meetings between national and foreign businesspeople, who shared information and experiences, particularly in the areas of energy, logistics and transport, construction and general services.
The President of the CTA, Agostinho Vuma, says that "this memorandum of understanding between the CTA and EVOLEN is an important milestone in the exchange of information, the holding of annual events in Mozambique and France, and the formalization of the relationship between Mozambican and French business people.
Vuma said he hoped it would facilitate the identification and development of mutually advantageous business partnerships, capable of strengthening the capacity of Mozambican companies to enter the global market and benefit from the enormous opportunities that will arise in the country, particularly with the development of gas and energy projects
For his part, the president of EVOLEN, Jean Cahuzac, said that "this second business forum confirms what we saw at the first forum last April: the prospects for Mozambique are very positive. Mozambique has all the ingredients to attract investment and technology transfer from France."
In fact, added Cahuzac, there is a long-term vision with the LNG projects, which will last for dozens of years, and there is a policy aimed at guaranteeing local content, advocating partnerships and investments in the country to guarantee the long term. We have every reason to be optimistic and confident of success.
"In this sense, the memorandum we signed with the CTA is particularly important, because we have created a general framework for building the future. It is therefore important that we follow up the memorandum to develop concrete actions," he said.
For his part, the local content manager at TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 Limitada, said: "We are particularly pleased with this second edition of the Mozambique - Franca business partnership programme, as we feel that we are continuing to make qualitative progress in implementing our strategy for maximizing local content."
He noted that the memorandum reaffirms the closer relationship between the Mozambican and French business community, allowing for greater sharing of industrial innovations, commercial experiences and good business practices, fostering an environment conducive to business development in the oil and gas industry in Mozambique.
He said that in line with the vision of the Mozambique LNG project, the multinational will continue to work to help materialize opportunities, such as the one with EVOLEN, involving companies, associations and business communities in other countries.
The Mozambique LNG project is the first onshore development of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in the country.
