The Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo), the largest opposition party, last Friday called for the resignation of the ministers of Economy and Finance, Max Tonela, and of Public Service, Ana Comoana, due to alleged irregularities in the implementation of the new Single Wage Table (TSU).
Renamo demands an "immediate exoneration," said Alfredo Magumisse, spokesman for the party's political commission, during a press conference, following the protests of several civil service professionals.
The ministries "don't have the technical conditions" to fit the different professional groups "into the new table," he added.
Some professional classes have complained about errors in the TSU framework, pointing out that the situation could harm their pay status if it is not corrected.
Renamo considers the government "incompetent," wants the executive to explain the causes of "successive regulatory errors" in the application of the TSU, and asks for an answer to "all the letters from the professional groups.
The Minister of Economy and Finance said Wednesday that "there is room" for civil servants to file claims for the correction of their framework.
There are technical teams ready to respond in the face of "a deep and comprehensive reform.
The new salary matrix in the state has 21 levels, ranging from 8,756 to 165,758 meticais, instead of 103 steps, as was the case previously.
