Redoubling vigilance against terrorism is the new "order" from the Governor of Nampula

The Governor of Nampula, Manuel Rodrigues, urged the population of the Eráti district to be more vigilant in the face of the growing threat of terrorist attacks in some border districts of Cabo Delgado province.

From the government's point of view, the possibility of infiltrated members of terrorist groups must be considered in the group of more than 45,000 people displaced and sheltered in Nampula.

"As you know, the terrorist movement is complex and needs attention from all of us. The issue of security has always been at the top of the Nampula and Cabo Delgado governments' priorities. That's why we've recommended that the local authorities and the population tighten security within the group of displaced people," he warned.

On the other hand, what is happening in the reception centers (schools) in Nampula is the provision of tents for shelter. But also, after complaints of unequal distribution of food and other support, people tend to return to their areas of origin.

In an interview with journalists, the Governor called for a discourse of denial to be avoided.

"It needs to be understood that Nampula province is not expelling, much less forcing, these fellow citizens to return [to Cabo Delgado]," said Manuel Rodrigues, quoted by STV.
