Ramaphosa and more African leaders already in Ukraine for peace mission

Ramaphosa e mais líderes africanos já se encontram na Ucrânia para missão de paz

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is already in Ukraine for a peace mission between Moscow and Kiev.

According to the international press, the South African President arrived in Ukraine this Friday leading a mission of African heads of state to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and then travel to Russia.

Ramaphosa arrived at the Nemishaeve railway station in Ukraine and was received by Ukraine's special representative for Africa and the Middle East, Ambassador Maskim Subj, and South Africa's ambassador to Ukraine, Andre Groenwald, the South African presidency announced.

According to the South African presidency, Ramaphosa is accompanied by the leaders of Zambia, Comoros, Congo, Egypt, Senegal and Uganda.

The South African head of state said before arriving in Ukraine that "the Peace Mission offers an African perspective and calls for a peace process that puts an end to hostilities".

The South African statesman expressed his satisfaction at the willingness shown by the heads of state of Ukraine and Russia to receive African leaders.

It should be noted that the African peace initiative is promoted by the heads of state of South Africa, Zambia, Senegal, the Republic of Congo, Uganda and Egypt, with the support of United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
