Fifteen of the 23 districts in Nampula province are still without electricity

Fifteen of the twenty-three districts in Nampula province are still in the dark as a result of damage to the electrical system by Cyclone Gombe.

Some of these districts have been without power since last Thursday.

In the last few hours, power supply was restored in eight districts, namely Moma, Larde, Angoche, Nacala-Porto, Nampula, Rapale, Mogovolas and Eráti, which was restored this Friday after the weather improved.

EDM's Nampula Customer Service Director, Eduardo Pinto said that technical teams from the company's transport and distribution sectors are on the ground intervening on the network for a gradual repositioning to the remaining 15 districts.

Eduardo Pinto said that at this moment about 154 thousand customers are without electricity in the province.

The source said that in some districts, the intervention works are being held up by cutting the roads that do not allow access to these regions, and there is no forecast for the reestablishment of electricity.
