Inhambane province may no longer depend on the Mozambican capital, Maputo, to have access to iron and zinc sheets, with the installation of a production and processing unit for this construction material in the district of Jangamo.

The project is valued at more than 900 thousand US dollars, the equivalent of a little more than 54 million meticais, an investment by a Chinese businessman who already operates in the city of Inhambane in the field of commerce.

The director of the One-Stop Shop (BAU), Ernesto Tafula, without giving too many details, said that, in a first phase, the factory plans to employ 60 workers who will guarantee the production and processing of this construction material. Ernesto Tafula made it known that the licensing is momentarily paralyzed.

As he explained, the machines to be used in the factory have foreign language (Mandarin) writings, so the project owner was notified to make the translation into Portuguese, in order to facilitate understanding.

Besides contributing to create more jobs, mainly for young people, the plant will, in a way, reduce the price of zinc and iron sheets in the province and beyond. It will also contribute to the dynamization of the province's economy and, consequently, to the increase of revenues for the state coffers, due to the payment of taxes and other fees to be collected, according to the director of BAU.
