Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi believes that the spread of terrorism in Africa and other types of conflict have aggravated the weaknesses of African countries and their peoples.

Nyusi made this statement in the context of the 37th African Union Summit, which is taking place in Addis Ababa.

"This is a relevant meeting, obviously because it focuses on an area that is a high priority for my government, not least because it is taking place at a time when our Inclusive Education Strategy is being implemented," said the President on his official Facebook page.

According to Nyusi, the opening session of the African Union Summit "made it clear that African leaders are willing to join forces to overcome the continent's challenges".

Nyusi says that the summit participants "will pay greater attention to assessing the state of implementation of the decisions taken at the 36th Summit on various development issues on the continent, with an emphasis on peace, security and strengthening continental integration".

The opening of the 37th African Union Summit was marked by vehement speeches condemning the emerging conflicts on the continent.

The conference is being held under the slogan "Educating an African fit for the 21st century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Greater Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality and Relevant Learning in Africa".
