The increase in gold production levels is attracting investors interested in setting up refinery units in some of the country's provinces, writes Notícias quoting the Kimberley Process Management Unit.
Last year alone Mozambique produced 1260 kilograms of gold for the first time since national independence, compared to 800 in 2021.
As a result of the availability of the raw material, more and more entrepreneurs are contacting the authorities to express their interest in setting up gold refineries, especially in the provinces of Manica and Nampula.
"What happens is that a refinery needs to be fed and, if there is no raw material available, there can be no investment in this area," said the source.
