Presidente da República enaltece cooperação entre Moçambique e Portugal

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, says that Mozambique and Portugal have been able to build a relationship of friendship and cooperation over the last few decades, despite the obstacles arising from the colonial war.

According to the Mozambican statesman, the establishment of diplomatic relations shortly after independence and the creation of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) in 1996 were important steps towards the institutionalization of cooperation between the two countries and the enhancement of their common heritage, which is the Portuguese language.

Speaking last Friday in Lisbon at the launch of the book "The End of the National Liberation Struggle in Mozambique: Operation Omar", written by General Atanásio M'Tumuke, Filipe Nyusi noted that relations between the two nations continue to be based on mutual respect and equality, boosting exchanges between the two peoples in terms of culture, sport and diplomacy.

During his three-day visit to Portugal, the Mozambican head of state met with the Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro.

The leaders of the two countries exchanged information on specific issues of bilateral cooperation, boosting trade and investment.
