The Bank of Portugal announced that Portuguese emigrants working in Angola sent 22.9 million euros to Portugal and Angolans in Portugal sent only the derisory 800 thousand euros, in November last year.
According to the bank, comparing these figures for November 2021 with those for the same month the previous year, the Portuguese increased their profit produced in Angola by about 2.7% and Angolans in Portugal increased by about 23% - in 2020 they sent 650,000 euros.
As usual, the figures for Angola represent the vast majority of the total value of emigrants in the Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP).
Thus, the Portuguese in the PALOP countries sent 23.5 million euros in November last year, which represents an increase of 2.4% compared to the 22.9 million euros sent in November 2020.
Overall, remittances from Portuguese emigrants rose by 1.67%, to 299.1 million euros, in November, while foreigners working in Portugal sent 6.9% more that month, representing 46.1 million euros, according to the Bank of Portugal.
According to Bank of Portugal data, Portuguese emigrants sent in November last year 299.14 million euros, which represents an increase of 1.67% compared to the 294.2 million euros sent in November 2020.
Conversely, foreigners working in Portugal sent 46.17 million euros to their countries of origin, representing a rise of 6.9% compared to the 43.19 million sent in the same month of 2020.
Looking at the period from January to November, Portuguese emigrants have already sent 3,305.9 million euros, which is a slight rise of 0.8% compared to the 3,277.1 million euros sent between January and November 2020.
