The Attorney General's Office (PGR) recognizes the fragility of national civil identification institutions and is concerned about the illegal granting of documents to foreign citizens and the ease with which they can travel in and out of the country.
Among the documents granted to foreign citizens illegally are Identity Cards (ID), Full Narrative Birth Certificates, Identification and Residence Documents for Foreigners (DIRE) and passports.
The strategy used by foreign citizens to enter Mozambique is to declare themselves refugees or present themselves as asylum seekers.
Notícias reports that this will be one of the chapters in the report by the Attorney General of the Republic, Beatriz Buchili, on the state of the administration of justice over the past year. Citing the report that will be presented tomorrow at the Assembly of the Republic, the daily newspaper says that there is an increasing involvement of foreign citizens in crimes, including terrorism.
The report reveals that foreign citizens pass through border crossings without leaving a trace in the migration system. It is in the provinces of Tete, Niassa and Cabo Delgado where the most occurrences are registered.
The PGR recognizes that the country is still the scene of terrorist actions in some districts of Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Niassa.
