Patrimony of Correios de Moçambique goes to public tender. The winner is the one who pays more...

The assets of the defunct state-owned company Correios de Moçambique will be liquidated through a public tender, after all necessary evaluations of the sale process are completed, according to an official from the Institute for the Management of State Holdings (IGEPE).

"After the government determines the quota of the properties, the liquidation commission will launch a public tender with reference prices. In this race whoever pays the most will get the property" reads the Savannah newspaper of April 29, 2022.

Recently, the consulting firm Intellica, SA concluded that all 176 properties of Correios de Moçambique, throughout the country (except Cabo Delgado), were valued at 1.1 billion meticais, revealing an overvaluation. Find out more...

The Administrator of the Portfolio of Control of Holdings in IGEPE and Chairman of the Winding-up Commission of Correios de Moçambique, Raimundo Matule, said that the evaluation of Intellica, SA does not determine and will not have any impact on the sale price of the buildings, because the value corresponding to each property will obey the market reference price. "... and whoever can pay more will have the possibility to keep the property".

Quoted by the newspaper, Matule said that the consultancy of Intellica, SA - a company linked to the Minister of Agriculture, Celso Correia, according to the Center for Public Integrity (CIP) - served only for the internal accounting of Correios de Moçambique.

"Through this evaluation the company gets to know how much it is worth or has in assets," he said.

Raimundo Matule said it is the competence of the State to indicate, in the calculation of the properties of Correios de Moçambique, those that should house State institutions and those reserved for liquidation.

In an article, CIP revealed that private trading companies are operating in some of the Correios de Moçambique buildings in downtown Maputo.

Besides real estate there are still more assets to be evaluated, among many, furniture, vehicles, furniture and office supplies, Matule said.
