The payment of overtime for teachers and health professionals is dependent on a verification and survey of the real beneficiaries, the Minister of State Administration and Civil Service said today in Maputo.
"The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economy and Finance are working to solve this problem. First, they are working on clarifying the information, and our argument was that any payment in the Civil Service always requires confirmation," said Ana Comoana.
According to the Minister, the work already carried out contains some true information and others that still need to be cross-checked.
She also explained that overtime, including weekends and public holidays, is accounted for differently from normal working hours.
"I believe that the delay is partly due to the need to verify the veracity of the information and confirm it. Those who pay have a responsibility to justify what they are paying for, because they are taking from the treasury, from state funds," he said, adding, however, that payments have already begun.
"As far as I know, payment has already begun. It's clear that those who haven't yet been paid feel aggrieved, are anxious and legitimately want to see what they're owed paid," he acknowledged.
