OTM-Trade Union Central in Cabo Delgado regrets high cost of living in recent years

The Organization of Workers of Mozambique, Central Trade Union (OTM-CS), in Cabo Delgado, says that the cost of living, in recent times, is increasingly suffocating and unbearable.

Speaking on Tuesday, at the opening of the first ordinary session of the consultation forum of social consultation, in the city of Pemba, the provincial executive secretary of that organization, Manuel André, said that the situation leaves the citizens dissatisfied, in a general way and the workers, in particular.

The president of the provincial business council, Mamudo Irage, in turn, advocates a frank and permanent dialogue between the three parties, namely government, employers and workers, in order to prevent possible labor conflicts.

The Secretary of State in Cabo Delgado province and president of FOCCOS, Forum of Consultation and Social Concertation, António Supeia, said that the structured social dialogue should be an effective practice to be consolidated.

The first ordinary session of the consultation and social consultation forum, which was held under the slogan: "Focus for the promotion of social dialogue and work culture", addressed, among other agenda items, the impact of dock construction for coastal populations and artisanal mining activity on the health of garimpeiros, in Cabo Delgado province.
