October's salaries for civil service workers under the new Single Wage Scale (TSU) will still take a few hours to reach their accounts, the government spokesman said.
Quoted on Tuesday by "O País", Filimão Suaze acknowledged the delays in the payment of wages, but said that 81% of the workers have already received in accordance with the provisions of the TSU.
Speaking at the usual weekly briefing on the sidelines of the 37th session of the Council of Ministers, the spokesman said that the process was ongoing that was expected to conclude "in the coming hours as the sheets submitted by the industry are validated."
The Executive justified the delay in the payment of salaries with the fact that the revision of the TSU was made outside the appropriate period.
"The Government noted that, taking into account the punctual revision of the law and revision of the respective decrees that took place in the course of October, the whole process of validating wage sheets happened outside the ordinary period, which normally takes place between the 1st and 4th of each month. Therefore, there has been a delay in the beginning of the wage payment process," he argued.
