Government says that the State Budget for 2022 will have a deficit of 156.7 billion Meticais, which represents 13.9% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
This difference will be covered by external donations amounting to 86.9 billion Meticals and by external credits valued at 11.7 billion Meticals.
Another source of financing the deficit will be through internal credits in the amount of 53.1 billion Meticais and balances carried over from capital gains in the amount of five billion, according to the Minister of Economy and Finance, Adriano Maleiane, at the presentation today of the Economic and Social Plan and the State Budget for 2022, in Parliament.
However, more than half of the budget goes to Agriculture, Health and Education.
The Government will allocate 15.1% of the State Budget to the Agriculture sector, 13.5% to Health and 22.5% to education.
In view of the limited resources and to ensure budget sustainability over the years, the Executive ensures to continue to implement measures aimed at increasing revenue collection, improving public expenditure management, and reducing fiscal risks.
"To ensure increased revenue collection our focus will be on broadening the tax base and improving efficiency and effectiveness in revenue collection," said the Minister of Economy and Finance, Adriano Maleiane.
In the area of public spending, the Government will continue to invest in the judicious and efficient management of public resources in order to ensure that each Metical spent has a greater impact on improving the living conditions of the population.
With a view to reducing fiscal risk, the state's business sector will proceed with its operational and financial restructuring, including the signing of program contracts to ensure greater managerial accountability and transparency in the management of public funds.
