The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, recommended, this Monday, the reinvention of the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) to, along with other forces, combat terrorism in the province of Cabo Delgado.
"We recommend PRM to reinvent itself so that, together with the other Defense and Security Forces on the ground, it intensifies its action to repel and remove all kinds of threats, aggression and disturbance of public order, in addition to creating its level of anticipation and containment of phenomena disturbing the tranquility of Mozambicans," said Filipe Nyusi.
The President was speaking at the closing ceremony of the forty-second basic police course at the Escola Prática da Polícia, in Matalane, Maputo province.
PRM admitted, today, about 11,000 new agents for the various branches of the corporation, a record number of PRM graduates, which, for the PR, "represents an important contribution of the Mozambican people to the strengthening of our human capacity, allowing greater coverage, surveillance, inspection and defense of our territorial integrity.
The PR advanced that it will increase the amount of specialization training in all domains, as well as install a new barracks in Cabo Delgado "to continue to do what they were doing still without knowledge.
"So some of you who are here are going immediately for specialized training," Nyusi advanced.
On the occasion, the President said that terrorists are advancing in small groups with the aim of spreading fear and terror. According to him and by way of example, one of the attacks occurred in the district of Memba, in the province of Nampula, which culminated in the death of six people including a Cambodian sister of Italian nationality.
"However, the Government has been engaged in carrying out various activities, both to halt the advance of these attacks and to ensure the safe return of the populations to the areas of origin that they were forced to abandon, and as a result the creation of the security situation and the implementation of the Reconstruction Plan of Cabo Delgado," he said.
