Norway announced this Monday, support totaling 6.3 million dollars to Mozambique, through two agreements with the United Nations, one for sexual and reproductive health protection and the other to promote democracy and elections.
One of the cooperation agreements, worth about 3.1 million dollars, was signed with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to strengthen prevention and response services linked to sexual and reproductive health and to curb gender-based violence, according to Lusa.
The beneficiaries will be women fleeing conflict who face "a higher risk of complications during childbirth without access to obstetric care," as well as "women survivors of violence who may suffer greater vulnerabilities without immediate access to protection services or post-rape care."
