Niassa hosts first Queen Achivanjila Festival

Niassa province is preparing to host the first edition of the Queen Achivanjila Festival, a major cultural event that promises to celebrate the history, tradition and cultural wealth of the region. The festival will begin this Friday, April 26, and will last two days, with various activities scheduled for the village of Malila, in the district of Majune.

In the village, preparations for the festival are in full swing, with the final touches being made to ensure that everything is ready to welcome visitors. Expectations are high, both among the local population and among the tourists who are already traveling to the region to take part in the event.

The Queen Achivanjila Festival is an initiative that aims to pay homage to Queen Achivanjila, a historical figure of great importance to the MATAKA people. The queen was known for her bravery, wisdom and leadership, and played a crucial role in the fight against colonial oppression.

The festival is also an opportunity to promote African culture, particularly Mozambican culture. During the two-day event, there will be music, dance, theater, crafts, gastronomy and much more. Among the main artists who will be performing at the event are names like Mr. Maya, the Kassimbos Band, Rei Bravo, Mr. PCA, Alice Marcod, among other renowned artists from the region.
