Moza Banco and FFLC announce today the winner of the Fernando Leite Couto Literary Award

The winner of the Fernando Leite Couto Literary Prize 2021-2022 will be known on Monday, April 18, at 6pm, at the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation. In this edition, the award is dedicated to prose.

At the event, which will also be a tribute to the Foundation's patron, we will be able to meet the first prose author laureate of this prize, which has already been awarded to two poets, Macvildo Bonde, with "The description of shadows" in 2017, and Otildo Justino Guido, with "The silence of the skin" in 2019.

In 2018, the jury decided not to award the prize, as none of the candidates met the quality requirements demanded as award criteria. Our expectation, in this second edition, dedicated to prose, is that the outcome will be different and we will be able to award and imprint a new prose writer for the gallery of young Mozambican authors.

The winner of the prize will receive 150 thousand meticais, offered by Moza Banco, and will also have, sponsored by the banking institution, the printing of the original submitted to the competition, in addition to participating in an artistic residence and the Folio Festival, in Portugal, supported by the Municipality of Óbidos.

The award is growing, so that, besides Moza Banco, which already sponsored it, it now counts, also, with the Municipality of Óbidos, Camões Institute for Cooperation of the Portuguese Language and the Portugal Mozambique Chamber of Commerce.
