The Minister of Health, Armindo Tiago, revealed this Monday that the executive will hold a vaccine caravan in order to accelerate the immunization process against covid-19.
According to Armindo Tiago, the process will be carried out, in a pilot phase, in the city of Maputo, going through places of greater population concentration and the entire eligible population, who have not yet been vaccinated, will be vaccinated with a single dose.
"Besides immunization, the caravan will also evaluate blood pressure, body index mass, glycemia, as well as provide nutritional counseling and health testing for several diseases," assured Armindo Tiago during the ceremony to receive about two million single-dose doses of the Janssen vaccine, from Johnson & Johnson, donated by the United States of America.
To this end, Tiago explained that depending on the results to be achieved in the pilot phase, the initiative will be implemented in other provinces.
Mozambique hopes to vaccinate 17 million people by the end of 2022, and currently 6.7 million people have been vaccinated, of which 4.2 million have been fully immunized.
