The Mozambican government, through the prime minister, reaffirmed the country's determination to continue implementing measures and actions that contribute to increasing national industrial production, giving priority to the use of local raw materials.
This intention, according to Adriano Maleiane, who was speaking on Saturday (27) in Aburi Hills, Ghana, on the occasion of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2024 (APD 2024), aims to stimulate an increase in trade, particularly with African countries.
In front of a huge audience, including political and business leaders, among others, who for three days debated a variety of topics under the slogan "Delivering Prosperity in Africa: Producing, Adding Value and Developing Trade", Maleiane said he believed that with "this approach we will be contributing to the consolidation of the African Continental Free Trade Area, and to achieving the objectives of African Agenda 2063."
For Mozambique, according to the prime minister, the event is of significant importance as it is in line with the country's efforts to ensure and accelerate the materialization of the African Continental Free Trade Area and, consequently, to promote and strengthen economic and trade relations between African countries.
"We believe that in order to promote and strengthen economic and trade relations we must ensure an increasingly vibrant involvement of the business sector and national, regional and international financial institutions," said Maleiane, quoted by AIM, adding that these partnerships will allow for increased investment in technology and innovation, thus creating solid and secure foundations for increased production and industrialization through the addition of African raw material values.
In addition, he explained that for Mozambique, agriculture is in itself a factor of socio-economic inclusion, since it is a sector that employs a large part of the Mozambican population and is also the main driver of the process of diversification and industrialization of our economy.
"Within the framework of Mozambique's agricultural dynamism, the Executive has focused above all on agro-industry, which is based on "SUSTENTA", a national program to integrate small farming families into production and marketing value chains," he said.
