The Mozambican and Portuguese governments signed a memorandum of understanding in Portugal this week to facilitate the movement of Mozambican citizens to work in Portugal..
The agreement, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, will be signed during the working visit that the Mozambican minister, Margarida Adamugi Talapa, is making to Portugal from today until Wednesday, at the invitation of her Portuguese counterpart, Ana Mendes Godinho.
The main purpose of the trip "is to sign a memorandum of understanding" between the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the Ministry of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security of Portugal, "in the field of labor mobility and to open up the possibility of sending Mozambican citizens to work in Portugal".
"This memorandum of understanding will contribute to strengthening the friendly relations and cooperation between the two states, namely by regulating legal migration channels, particularly for salaried workers," said a statement from the Mozambican Ministry of Labor and Social Security, quoted by Lusa.
"Both ministries will also sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of development cooperation, with the aim of strengthening their relations within the framework of common attributions, namely in the areas of social security, labor relations and working conditions, for the period 2022-2026," the document added.
