Mozambique and Angola are advocating greater US investment in Africa and the continent's inclusion in the G20 Group.
The position was defended this Tuesday in Washington by the Presidents of Mozambique and Angola, Filipe Nyusi and João Lourenço, respectively, during the conference organized by EXIMBank, Export and Import of the United States of America, where the two statesmen were the main speakers.
When asked about their expectations of the summit, the two statesmen considered it an opportunity for Africans to consolidate the trust that already exists between the United States and Africa.
Several questions were put to the two statesmen, with the emphasis on the economic blockages caused by corruption, foreign debt and economic recession.
For the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, some solutions to these and other problems on the continent include urgent investment in Africa, bearing in mind that the continent's resources must be transformed for mutual benefit.
For the President of Angola, João Lourenço, it is necessary to increase productivity in order to reduce prices, thus benefiting the greatest number of Africans.
The problem of corruption was one of the issues raised in this panel before the 2nd United States-Africa Summit, which kicked off on Tuesday afternoon in Washington.
On the subject of corruption, President Nyusi explained that legislation is being improved in Mozambique to combat this social evil.
For his part, the President of Angola, João Lourenço, considered corruption to be a national security problem.
