The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Maria Manuela Lucas, said on Wednesday (19) that Mozambique was aiming to devise innovative cooperation initiatives to deal with economic inequalities.
Speaking at the opening session of the annual retreat of the United Nations team in Mozambique, she said she hoped that "the encouraging results of Mozambique-United Nations cooperation will reinforce actions that contribute to reducing digital inequalities, promoting peace and security, and ensuring that current decisions consider the needs of future generations, through technical, financial and political support, especially in the implementation of policies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)".
"In its relationship with the UN, Mozambique hopes to continue to benefit from a platform to face global challenges and promote sustainable development, with initiatives such as the Pact for the Future," added Maria Lucas, highlighting commitments in areas such as peace, human rights, gender equality, climate change and financing for sustainable development.
The United Nations team retreat is an event for reflection on cooperation between Mozambique and the world organization, aimed at combining initiatives to face today's global challenges.
