Mozambique is hosting the International Meeting of National Public Health Institutes for the first time next week, under the theme: "The role of National Public Health Institutes in promoting equitable, resilient societies in the face of present and future public health threats".
The aim of the meeting is to identify strategies for early intervention in public health threats, vaccine production and other actions.
The event will bring together representatives from more than 100 countries.
The director-general of the National Institute of Health, Eduardo Samo Gudo, believes that by hosting the meeting, Mozambique has an image of relevance in public health.
He also said that by hosting this meeting, the country would expand its global collaboration networks in the area of public health. "Mozambique is currently seen as a country that has lessons and success, foresight, in anticipating, preparing for, controlling and responding to public health emergencies," he said, quoted by Rádio Moçambique.
Gudo believes that some neglected diseases today could worsen in the future if they don't benefit from current intervention.
