The President of the Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA) said on Tuesday that there must be guarantees before the start of private sector activities, as the demonstrations continue.
Agostinho Vuma was reacting to the measures adopted by the government to ease the financial pressure on small and medium-sized businesses, which suffered during the peak of the demonstrations.
These measures aim to create subsidized credit lines for companies that have no debt but need capital to boost their business, with annual interest estimated at 15 %".
Quoted in a The CountryVuma questioned "how to accept a recovery fund that will have an impact on the cost structure", as the demonstrations continue. He also questioned how companies that already had loans were going to take out a new loan, with the imminent danger of further vandalization.
"We therefore need to think about the criteria for access and the cost of this money," said Vuma.
He also expressed his anger at the wave of kidnappings of businesspeople, which is constantly on the rise. "We are seeing a wave of violence, linked to hatred. So we have a very intolerant Mozambique. Our fellow citizens lack the sensitivity to know that our companies, which provide them with jobs, are companies owned by people who are looking to make a profit," he said.
