The Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, anticipated yesterday, Saturday, in Luanda that the Portugal/Mozambique summit, in Maputo, next week will be a "success" in several aspects of the cooperation between the two countries.
It is a "summit that even before it takes place it is not difficult to predict that it will be a success. And that is good, a success in the relations between Portugal and Mozambique is very good," said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, at the end of a bilateral meeting with his Mozambican counterpart, Filipe Nyusi.
"We talked about the fight against terrorism, the positive steps taken in that area, and there is going to be a summit of the two countries, the Prime Minister of Portugal, accompanied by the MFA, will be in Mozambique," he said, referring to the meeting.
At that meeting, "cooperation will be discussed, not only military cooperation," but "economic cooperation, social cooperation, and political cooperation," in a period that "coincides with Facim [Maputo International Fair], the great fair of the Mozambican economy," Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa told journalists.
The two heads of state are in Luanda for the official funeral ceremonies of former Angolan president José Eduardo dos Santos and Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa had, he said, a "very fruitful afternoon" in bilateral meetings, which also included the presidents of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, and São Tomé and Príncipe, Carlos Vila Nova.
"[About Mozambique] we are permanently informed, I was no longer with President Nyusi and it was good to know the advances in the fight against terrorism, GDP growth and inflation less severe than feared," explained Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, quoted by Lusa.
