Maputo extends deadline for payment of Vehicle Excise Duty and suspends fines

The Municipality of Maputo has just extended the deadline for motorists to pay the Municipal Vehicle Tax, namely the Manifest fees, at the municipal offices.

The document shared by the municipality on social media indicates that the extension will be for another 30 days.

"In addition, the collection of fines arising from non-compliance with tax deadlines will also be suspended for the same period" until April 30.

As a rule, this tax obligation is paid in the first half of each year, from January 2nd to March 31st, and later payments are subject to a fine.  

In the Municipality of Maputo there are 14 receiverships that expect to cover around 25,000 vehicles, said the Municipal Director of Planning and Finance, João Calenga, in January, quoted by the newspaper The Country.
