Maputo acolhe hoje conferência internacional de reintegração pós-conflito

Experts from different countries will gather in Maputo from today for the International Conference on "Post-Conflict" Reintegration in Mozambique, where they will discuss the lessons, challenges and paths for the future, as well as the processes of reintegration and social reintegration.

The two-day event is organized by the Institute for Multiparty Democracy (IMD) and aims to lay the foundations for the establishment of a common space or mechanism for coordinating and sharing knowledge and experience for a more inclusive and sustainable reintegration programme geared towards consolidating the peace process and national reconciliation.

IMD executive director Hermenegildo Mulhovo stressed the need for the country to move towards a national reintegration plan to make better use of the available resources.

Quoted by the newspaper SundayThe source explained that Mozambique has already registered some plans for the reinsertion and social reintegration of combatants, namely demobilized combatants, under the 1992 General Peace Agreement, the 2014 Cessation of Military Hostilities Agreement and recently the Maputo Peace and Reconciliation Agreement, which culminated in the implementation of the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) process for former Renamo guerrillas.
