Vodafone M-Pesa, a subsidiary of Vodacom Mozambique, and the Transcom Group - the founding body of the Instituto Superior de Transportes e Comunicações (ISUTC) and the Instituto de Transportes e Comunicações (ITC) signed a memorandum of understanding this Thursday in Maputo, which ensures that users of the two educational institutions will be able to pay for different services through the M-Pesa electronic currency platform.
With the signing of this memorandum of understanding, Vodafone M-Pesa reaffirms its position as an institution dedicated to facilitating monetary transactions within Mozambican society, connecting people and institutions by providing an easy-to-use, fast and secure financial service anywhere in the country.
"This collaboration proves our commitment to contributing to the development of Mozambican society, offering an easy, fast and secure experience in monetary transactions, thus promoting financial inclusion, which is also a commitment of the Government of Mozambique. Through this memorandum, we continue to be at the forefront of achieving one of our objectives, which is the continuous expansion of our services, to ensure that customers can pay through M-Pesa wherever they are," said Érica Varinde, Commercial Director of Vodafone M-Pesa, quoted in the statement.
Transcom's Managing Director, Luís Almeida, said that his institution had joined the M-Pesa platform because it recognized the role and relevance shown by this service in electronic money transactions in the country.
It's an important partnership for our educational institutions and we hope that the availability of M-Pesa will make it easier to pay for the services provided, in particular the payment of registrations, tuition fees and internal document requests, among others. This partnership will also enable greater links between the business and academic sectors, with the possibility of carrying out internships, study visits and joint research projects," he said.
The cooperation between the companies formalizes their intention and willingness to establish partnerships in the areas of training, technology, technical and professional development, among others.
