LAM receives first cargo plane

LAM recebe primeiro avião cargueiro

On Sunday in Maputo, Mozambique Airlines (LAM) received the first cargo plane that is expected to meet the demand for cargo following the reactivation of routes to Africa.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737-300, is due to start operations soon and will transport cargo within the country and to South Africa.

LAM is under the management of South Africa's Fly Modern Ark (FMA), which has mobilized 15 million dollars to restructure the company, including the purchase of aircraft.

When the FMA took over the management of LAM, it had an estimated debt of 300 million dollars.

The ongoing strategy to revitalize LAM follows years of operational problems related to a reduced fleet and lack of investment, with a number of incidents, not fatal, associated by experts with inefficient aircraft maintenance, writes the Notícias ao Minuto.
