LAM announces resumption of flights to northern region after suspension caused by Cyclone Jude

LAM anuncia retoma dos voos para região norte após a suspensão provocada pelo ciclone Jude

Mozambique Airlines (LAM) announced the resumption yesterday (11) of flights to the northern region, on the Maputo-Pemba-Maputo route, with an extension to Dar-Es-Salam, in Tanzania, taking into account the improvement in the weather, which had led to the cancellation of the connection on this route.

In a statement, the company said it had also operated flights on the Maputo-Nampula-Lichinga and return routes, as well as Maputo-Nacala-Maputo.

"All operations to the Central region continue to be canceled due to heavy rains in the cities of Tete, Quelimane, Chimoio and Beira," the statement said.

On Monday (10), the Mozambican airline canceled domestic flights to the north of the country, due to the occurrence of tropical cyclone Jude, which has been affecting that region since last Sunday.

"Due to tropical storm Jude, which is battering the northern region of the country, and for operational safety reasons, domestic flights to Nampula, Pemba and Nacala from Maputo have been canceled," the carrier said in a statement.
