Mozambique Airlines (LAM) announced on Wednesday (26) that from August they will introduce several new domestic routes, flying directly between several provincial capitals.
In a statement sent to our newsroom, LAM explained that by using these routes, passengers will no longer be forced to change planes in the country's capital, Maputo.
The new routes are:
Beira - Nampula - Beira: daily
Beira - Tete - Quelimane - Beira: Tuesdays and Saturdays
Beira - Quelimane - Tete - Beira: Mondays and Thursdays
Beira - Pemba - Beira: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
Beira - Tete - Nampula - Beira: Wednesdays and Sundays
Beira - Nampula - Tete - Beira: Fridays
In the note we have seen, LAM states that it has undergone a renaissance since it began operating under the management of the South African company Fly Modern Ark.
Among recent improvements, the Mozambican airline highlights the reduction of fares by more than 30% on some routes and the increase in the size of LAM's fleet with the acquisition of two Bombardier JRC 900 aircraft.
At the end of June, Transport Minister Mateus Magala said that there had also been improvements in LAM's operational efficiency with a reduction in the number of canceled or delayed flights and an improvement in punctuality.
He added that LAM's expenses had been controlled and there had been a considerable increase in revenue, with a consequent improvement in LAM's financial situation. "Miraculously, the company that three months ago was considered technically bankrupt is now technically solvent," he said at the time.
