Japan supports the strengthening and monitoring of Mozambique's borders

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Veronica Macamo, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Mozambique, Kimura Hajime, signed this Monday, the exchange of notes between the governments of Mozambique and Japan regarding the supply of border control and monitoring equipment.

According to the communiqué cited by Notícias, with the signing of this legal instrument of bilateral cooperation, the Japanese government will provide a donation of border control and monitoring equipment valued at USD 4,630,000 (four million, six hundred and thirty thousand dollars) in the provinces of Cabo Delgado and Niassa.

"This donation aims to strengthen Mozambique's border control capacity and contribute to the country's socioeconomic development through social stability," explains the statement from the Japanese Embassy in Mozambique.

Mozambique shares a border with several African countries, which often opens space for the entry of illegal citizens from various points, however, this equipment is essentially aimed at strengthening the strict control of the entry of citizens through the national posts.
