The Japanese government is going to offer a surveillance ship and air navigation equipment worth more than 23 million dollars, announced the Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
Verónica Macamo made the announcement after the signing ceremony of the donation agreement in Maputo.
As part of the agreement, Tokyo will supply a surveillance ship, still under construction, estimated at 830,000 dollars, and air navigation equipment, estimated at 22.5 million dollars, said Macamo, quoted by Lusa.
"We expressed our deep appreciation to the people and government of Japan for their continued support for Mozambique's economic and social development efforts and renewed our desire to see relations of friendship and cooperation increasingly strengthened," said Mozambique's Minister of Business and Cooperation.
The agreement provides for the supply of ground-to-air communication radios, fire-fighting vehicles, drones, airport weather stations and an air traffic control simulator.
An extensive training program will also be implemented for operations personnel, including air traffic controllers and maintenance staff.
