Applications for the Fernando Leite Couto Literary Prize were opened on Tuesday. This award is a tribute to the patron of the Fernando Couto Foundation, and that from this year onwards counts on the partnership of Camões - Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo.

According to the organizers, this edition will reward the best work of prose fiction. By the way, the regulation indicates that only works by new authors, who have not yet published a work or with only one published work in the space of two years until the opening date of this edition, will be eligible for the prize.

The partners of this edition are the Câmara do Comércio de Portugal-Moçambique, Município de Óbidos em Portugal and Moza Banco. In addition to the 150 thousand Meticais, the winner should benefit from a trip to Portugal for a 30-day artistic residence, in the Municipality of Óbidos, and the stay should coincide with the Fólio-Óbidos Literary Festival.

Applications will be open until February 28, 2022. The Fernando Leite Couto Literary Award is an initiative that aims to stimulate the production of literary works by new Mozambican authors, in Portuguese language.
