The National Statistics Institute (INE) revealed that prices in Mozambique increased by 0.03% in March, when compared to the previous month.
According to the organization, the clothing and footwear division stood out, contributing around 0.04 percentage points (pp) to the total monthly change.
"Looking at the monthly change by product, it's worth highlighting the rise in prices of onions (6.8%), complete restaurant meals (0.8%), fresh fish (2.0%), grain rice (1.0%), second-hand cars (2.7%), children's shoes (5.1%) and capulanas (1.3%). These contributed around 0.17 pp to the total month-on-month change," INE said in its Consumer Price Index (CPI) report. MZNews had access to.
Meanwhile, some products, especially tomatoes (2.8%), corn (6.8%), horse mackerel (1.1%), cabbage (2.3%), corn flour (1.0%), blankets (2%) and fresh potatoes (3.6%), bucked the upward trend in prices, contributing around 0.13pp to the total monthly change.
