INE launches Family Budget Survey in the country

At least 15,732 households will be covered by the Family Budget Survey (FBS) over the next 12 months throughout the country, in a process officially launched this Monday in Maputo.

This is a survey that aims to make a comparison of key indicators that evaluate the country's economic and social growth, especially in the current climate, characterized by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Quoted by Notícias, the president of the National Statistics Institute (INE), Eliza Magaua, said that the IOF-2022 marks the beginning of data collection in previously selected households, through methods scientifically designed for this purpose.

For Magaua, the survey will also allow a reading, interpretation, and comparison of the results to be obtained on the basis of others already conducted in the country, as well as internationally.

For the present survey 1496 enumeration areas were selected throughout the country, of which 756 were in the urban area and the remaining 740 in the countryside.

"The national statistical system has been carrying out data collection in households, companies and other public and private institutions, with the purpose of producing statistical information to generate periodical publications," he said.

The INE's president added that the main user of this information is the Government, within the framework of defining and readjusting policies that lead to the social and economic well-being of families, without leaving aside the different organizations that operate in the country, researchers, and other users.
