Indústria extrativa: Adriano Maleiane defende a concepção de um plano  diversificado

 The prime minister, Adriano Maleiane, yesterday defended the design of a diversified plan for the balance of national production, which is not solely dependent on the emerging extractive industry.

Maleiane was speaking at the launch in Maputo of the book "Extractive Industry in Africa - Blessing or Curse" by academic António Niquice, which took place yesterday.

In a statement produced by Notícias, the source said that caution is needed while at the same time the best options for the application of the revenues generated by the exploitation of resources must be followed, so that they don't become a curse, like some examples in the world.

For the president, strategies and a development plan of at least twenty years must be found to guide the proper use of resources.

He stressed that agriculture is the base. That's why, according to him, there needs to be a value chain approach that is exactly geared towards industrialization, local content, in an organized way.

He said that the Sovereign Fund is a long-term growth plan, in order to give other generations the chance to benefit from the country's existing resources.

He also explained that there is also an urgent need, for example, to finance agriculture in the approach of a segment that boosts local content, due to the lack of institutions and conditions technically prepared to finance this sector.
