INAM: Tropical storm threatens southern and central regions of the country

The provinces of Inhambane (south) and Sofala (center) are on the verge of being affected by bad weather as a result of a moderate tropical storm that could hit the region within 48 hours. The warning comes from the National Meteorological Institute (INAM).

"A low atmospheric pressure system has formed south of the Mozambique Channel, off the southwest coast of Madagascar Island, with the potential to evolve into a moderate tropical storm in the next 48 hours, which could influence the weather in the provinces of Inhambane and Sofala," said the INAM statement.

Meanwhile, INAM warns of "the continued occurrence of moderate (30 to 50 millimeters in 24 hours) to very heavy (more than 50 millimeters in 24 hours) rainfall in the provinces of Zambézia, Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Niassa".
