INAE closes 12 commercial establishments for non-compliance with health and safety standards

INAE encerra 12 estabelecimentos comerciais por incumprimento de normas de saúde e segurança

The National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE) closed 12 commercial establishments in the last quarter of 2024 for non-compliance with health and safety standards.

The information is contained in the institution's balance sheet for last year, which details the main infringements detected during inspections carried out in various provinces of the country.

According to the report cited by NewsAccording to the document, eight of the closed establishments remain banned as they have not yet remedied the infringements identified. "Another four establishments have already complied with the legal requirements and have been reopened," says the document.

The provinces of Tete and Inhambane recorded the highest number of closures, while in the city of Maputo more than 50 commercial units were prosecuted and fined for irregular practices, including price speculation and non-compliance with commercial regulations.

Despite the measures applied, INAE warned that the payment of fines has been lower than expected, which may be related to socio-political and economic factors that have led many traders to reduce commercial activity, making it difficult to comply with the sanctions imposed.
