The director-general of the Mozambican Oil Importer (IMOPETRO), João Macandja, said Thursday that Mozambique will import 175,000 more tons of fuel in the next import contract, whose international tender for selecting the supplier will be launched on the 15th.
According to João Macandja, the candidate companies have until next January to present proposals, and the selection criteria for the next entity to import fuel will be the best price, safety and reliability in importing.
"The selected company will be responsible for importing a total of 1 290,000 tons of fuel during the six months covered by the contract - to start during the first half of 2022, but no date yet - 175,000 more than in the current contract, established with the multinational Vitol, which replaced TotalEnergies," advanced the director general of IMOPETRO.
However, the process is centralized by law in a single entity, IMOPETRO, owned by the oil product distributors operating in the country.
