The government, through ANE, has guaranteed the resumption this month of the rehabilitation work on rural roads in Zambezia and Nampula provinces, suspended last April due to the involvement of workers from the companies responsible for the works in cases of rape of girls.
According to ANE's general director, Américo Dimande, the lifting of the suspension occurred late last month, after the requirements of the World Bank, which is financing this phase I of the road rehabilitation works, were met.
Speaking during the monitoring work of the conditions for the resumption of the rehabilitation of rural roads, Dimande, said that the Government has sensitized the contractors and their workers to avoid this type of postures, which besides being reprehensible in society violate the values and principles of the program funder.
The rural road rehabilitation project contemplates the districts of Chinde, Luabo, Morrumbala, Lugela, Maganja da Costa, Mocubela and Pebane in Zambezia, and Moma, Eráti and Angoche in Nampula. These are regions with great agro-fishery potential and the production does not reach the main centers of marketing and consumption due to the lack of proper roads.
